Having good tools to work on your car is fundamental. You can find tools in a lot of places but it’s important that you know what you really need in order to buy the right tools.
These are the tools that you should really have and those that you might want but can live without:
- Screwdrivers. The quality of your screwdrivers is important if you're going to use them more then few times. Bad screwdrivers will have their tips worn out after few screws. Make sure to buy screwdrivers with magnetic tips, this will make it possible to work on screws in inconvenient locations.
- Work Light with Hook, whatever model you like. The important is that it has a hook so you can use it both working on the engine and under the car.
- Extension Cord. The tool cord is always short, always. Get an extension cord, there won’t be a single time you don’t use it.
- 2 Jack Stands, these are important for your own safety while working under the car.
- C-Clamp. You need one of these to work on brakes and it often comes handy for other stuff.
- Service Jack. This is not really necessary but makes things a lot easier. If you’re often working with your car lifted then you absolutely need one of these. Jacking your car up will be easier and faster.
- Wrench set
- Pliers
- Hand Cleaner Wipes
- Nutdrivers set. This really depends on what you do on your car and on what car you own. You won’t be able to work on some nuts with standard wrenches.
- Heavy Duty Cleaner
